Upper West Side Penthouse – Y Residence, New York

The 4,000-square feet penthouse offers spectacular views over the Hudson River of the west side of Manhattan. The project for a foreign news broadcast producer’s family consisted of the interior design of the main foyer, living / dining spaces, and four bedrooms.

The interior furnishings were a stylistic mixture of elegant contemporary pieces with rich and layered textures such as grained leather, suede, and cashmere wool fabric. A custom architectural dividing screen made of warm gray Brazilian jatobe sapwood was deviced to spatially and visually separate the living from the dining area, creating a cozier and more fluid feeling in the otherwise sprawling space. Same wood species also was used for the decorative display shelving unit built into a dramatic floating wall in the living room.
