Riverside Luxury Condominium - Rooftop Design, New York

The project consisted of the re-configuration of a 10,000 square feet rooftop presently used as tennis courts for the 3000-unit luxury rental building. The rooftop overlooked the Hudson River on the west side of midtown Manhattan. The clever planning offered loungy and recreational areas such as outdoor bbq area, rooftop lounge seating groups, dining areas, bocci court, and movie-screening. It was designed as a restorative place where neighbors and friends could commingle or enjoy the sunset.  Other features in the design included a custom river-rock wall draped with cascading water that gave a cooling effect over the summer, and multiple cast-iron fire pits throughout the lounge seating areas that created a feeling of warmth and coziness during the cooler months and evenings.

The rooftop was primarily finished with tone-on-tone gray concrete pavers of a random pattern. It contained a central grassy area of dramatic zenrock-like outdoor furniture that contrasted the rectilinear geometry of the lounge seating areas. A trellis of a shoreline profile framed the edge of the rooftop, with smaller seating groups provided underneath for outdoor casual dining and conversations. In addition, multiple exotic potted plants and atmospheric outdoor lightings were used to create this urban oasis.
